Trip to Berlin!!!

Hello dear all!

Today, I booked our hotel in Berlin!
And so here's the information about our trip:

Participants:
  1. Jana
  2. Marcin
  3. Sarah
  4. Sherif
  5. Zhanar

Way to Berlin:
  • Departure: We'll meet on August 11th at 5.15 am (!) in or in front of the train station building in Lüneburg. Jana: You have to take the train to Lüneburg departing at 4.57 am at Hamburg Hauptbahnhof! We'll get on this train in Lüneburg, either. It would be good if you took a seat in the fisrt waggon to make it easier for us to find you.
  • Arrival in Berlin: After changing the trains in Uelzen and Magdeburg-Neustadt we'll arrive in Berlin at 9.43 am.

Accomodation:
I booked accommodation for you at "A&O Hostel City West", Joachimstalerstraße 1-3, Berlin-Charlottenburg. The hotel is rather in the center of the city, directly on the opposite side of the station "Zoologischer Garten", which used to be the main station before 2005. It is just 3 stations by city railway away from Berlin Hauptbahnhof and located at the same underground line as is my mother's house, where I will stay over night (I'm sorry to not invite you to sleep at my mother's house but her apartment is really small...)
I booked beds in a mixed 8 bed dorm. The price for staying at the hostel doesn't include neither breakfast, nor linen, nor towels!
About breakfast: No problem! There are more than enough places in Berlin where we can find something for breakfast :o)
About the linen: You can either bring your own bed linen to the hotel or you can rent linen for 3€
About the towels: Well, these you'll have to bring by yourself.

Programe in Berlin:
Well, it's up to you! Get yourself informed in the internet what things there are to see in Berlin.
Marcin had the wish to go to Pergamon Museum, Sherif would like to go to the Egyptian Museum. I think both will be possible :o)
Also, there is a variety of free guided tours through Berlin (walking tours and bike tours!). That means that you don't have to pay anything to the guide (not even if you do the bike tour where a bike is provided to you!). You may just pay a tip to the guide after the tour but just if you feel that the tour was worth paying a tip.
I've already done such a tour in Amsterdam and it was just amazing! It was the best guided city tour I've ever had! That's why I think we should include such a tour in our program!

Departure in Berlin for going back:
I'll stay with my mother in Berlin for some more days but you guys have to options to go back on Sunday, August 12th: Either with the train that departs in Berlin at 5.22 pm and arrives in Lüneburg at 10.22 pm with just two changes of the train in between, or the train departing at 5.55 pm in Berlin and arriving in Lüneburg at 11.25 pm with 5 changes in between.
It's up to you.

Prices:
  • costs for train: nothing! IAESTE pays!
  • costs for lodging: 10 € per person
  • public transport in Berlin: between 6.25 € and 7.80 € per person for whole-day-tickets for both days (depending if Marion and Ferrán will come with us or not)
Ok, if you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask!

See ya all!
Sarah
